DraftKings CEO Hints at the Possibility of the Betting Platform Accepting Crypto

In a recent podcast, DraftKings CEO Jason Robins spoke about the possibility that it might soon begin accepting crypto. The sports and fantasy betting platform showed its keen interest in crypto by diving into NFTs last year. DraftKings also launched an NFT marketplace in July. The platform also acts as a hub for Tom Brady’s Autograph NFT collections.

In the podcast, he also spoke about the different hindrances that come with the acceptance of crypto payments. The Supreme Court overturned PASPA, the federal ban on sports betting, in 2018, allowing states to authorize sports betting. Currently, 30 states have legalized sports betting. Jason said that since crypto is a new space, it can be confusing for newbies.

“There’s protections that people don’t necessarily have in the crypto space that we think are important.” “We feel like in order to introduce something like that to our platform, we need to go a little bit beyond maybe where some others in the market have gone, because there’s an expectation from our customer that we do so.”

He also added to his conversation that the crypto realm needs a touch of more decentralization to make it safe and risk-free for the newcomers. But that is highly unlikely to happen as the entire concept of cryptocurrency is based on the feature that it is decentralized. In the podcast, he also spoke about how was his entry into the crypto realm and what he envisions crypto’s future to be.
