Blockchain Lures (BCL) is an innovative Japanese project that Proposes new bass fishing culture & lifestyle through Web3, merging the world’s first NFT with a bass fishing lure.
Released in Japan in October 2023 as a decentralized bass fishing Social Networking Service focused on black bass and built on the Solana blockchain, BCL has already issued over 2,000 NFTs. It is gaining attention as the world’s first ‘Fish to Earn’ project.
BCL combines physical lures with NFT technology, using blockchain to record fishing achievements in the world’s first application of its kind. BCL sells physical items like lures and apparel alongside NFTs, linking real-life activities and achievements to data within the application. The project truly embodies ‘RWA.’
Furthermore, BCL plans to expand its user base by enhancing the value of the user experience through upcoming game offerings. The envisioned BCL game allows in-game status changes based on real-world fishing results, with users able to trade or lend own lures. Additionally, BCL intends to integrate activity scores beyond fishing results into the game, creating a unique ecosystem that attracts both Web3 users outside of the angler community and enables interaction with existing anglers.
As a Web3 gateway, BCL aims to not only broaden Solana’s adoption by attracting more users but also to drive impactful social movements.
On the first anniversary of the app launch, BCL has announced two new services.
Aiming to Realize ‘Fish to Earn’ Through BCL’s Meme Coin Issuance
One of the new developments is the issuance of BCL’s meme coin, the “Black Bass Token (BBT).” This coin, designed to be cool, cute, and vibrant, is inspired by the black bass and aims to be beloved by anglers worldwide.
The issuance of BBT is intended to expand the BCL ecosystem. As a stepping stone toward realizing “Fish to Earn,” BBT stands out as the first “fish” meme coin, whereas most meme coins revolve around dogs and cats, positioning itself as a pioneer in promoting fish-themed meme coins. BBT website
BBT can be earned through various activities in the BCL app, such as posting fishing results, ranking achievements, participating in volunteer activities, and contributing to the community. Currently, BCL app registration is required to earn BBT. The BCL app is a web service, and a native app launch is planned for December. You can register here with your Google account.
The tokens acquired through engaging with the BCL app can be exchanged for coupons usable within BCL’s e-commerce platform through an upcoming exchange. In the future, the tokens will potentially be usable at gas stations, local restaurants, and more. Additionally, besides the in-house BCL games, the tokens could be utilized within the broader Solana ecosystem, including DEXs and DeFi services.
Another option BCL is considering is an Initial Exchange Offering (IEO). However, in past token sales, excessive token distribution to project stakeholders and early investors led to price spikes driven by speculative demand, followed by significant sell-offs and subsequent declines. BBT aims to avoid this by minimizing airdrops for publicity purposes and focusing on providing valuable incentives for anglers and community participants, building a sustainable ecosystem.
The establishment of a media platform introducing various Solana meme coins
The second initiative is the meme coin introduction media platform “Solana Meme Map.”
Meme coins have become an indispensable element when discussing cryptocurrency. It’s no longer just a passing “boom” but has established itself as a “culture.” Recognizing this global trend of meme coins, “Solana Meme Map” aims to create a chaos map of meme coins issued on Solana, which hasn’t been done before. This platform aspires to be a media outlet similar to the Michelin Guide, providing an authoritative position within the ecosystem.
Every six months, BCL will select featured meme coins, sharing insights into the “ecosystem” and “trends” of the ever-diversifying world of meme coins. The map showcases unique meme coins representing Solana, including animals like dogs, cats, and birds, as well as dinosaurs and monsters, painting a chaotic yet fascinating picture reminiscent of a “zoo.”
The media platform is expected to launch its LP by the end of the year, focusing on creating an entertainment-rich, zoo-like atmosphere. This creative approach will allow users to gain an overarching understanding of promising Solana meme coins and quickly access the latest information.
Only coins that meet specific conditions, such as a certain trading volume, will be featured, enabling users to discover trending and promising meme coins without additional costs.
The world’s first bass fishing tournament with the cryptocurrency “SOL” as the prize held at Lake Sagami.
On October 27, 2024, marking the first anniversary of the BCL app’s service launch, the world’s first bass fishing tournament offering cryptocurrency “SOL” as a prize was held at Lake Sagami, a popular spot for bass fishing in Japan. This event was organized by “Solana Superteam Japan” and “CoinTelegraph Japan” to support the development of the Solana ecosystem in Japan, with SBI Group’s cryptocurrency exchange “BITPOINT” participating as the tournament’s prize sponsor.
As a first step toward achieving one of the goals, “Connecting Bass Anglers Worldwide,” BCL have added an English translation feature to the app on November 8. By using the BCL app, anglers can compete with each other regardless of location, as long as they have the same lure, anywhere in the world.
The app also provides a platform to share achievements and accomplishments, and to discuss fishing with fellow enthusiasts who share the same interests.
